Labour Market Discrimination – Gender Wage Gaps in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou genderové diskriminace na trhu práce v České republice. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda se genderová diskriminace na trhu práce v České republice vyskytuje či nikoli a zda v České republice existují mzdové rozdíly mezi ženami a muži. Část teoretická vymezuje důležité pojmy jako diskriminace, rovnost, gender nebo trh práce. Popisuje legislativní opatření a soustředí se na vysvětlení, jak vznikají rozdíly v odměňování mezi ženami a muži. K dosažení cíle je provedena analýza dat prezentovaných Evropskou unií, Českým statistickým úřadem a Ministerstvem práce a sociálních věd. Dále jsou tato data porovnána s výzkumem v podobě dotazníkového šetření. A nakonec na základě provedených analýz je vyvozen závěr a navržena opatření, která by mohla zmírnit výskyt diskriminace na trhu práce.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of gender discrimination on the labour market in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether gender discrimination in the labour market in the Czech Republic occurs or not and whether there are wage differences between women and men in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part defines important concepts such as discrimination, equality, gender or labour market. It describes legislative measures and focuses on explaining how the gender pay gap arises. To achieve the objective, an analysis of data presented by the European Union, the Czech Statistical Office and the Ministry of Labour and Social Sciences is carried out. These data are then compared with research in the form of a questionnaire survey. Finally, on the basis of the analyses carried out, conclusions are drawn and measures are proposed that could reduce the incidence of discrimination in the labour market.
