Abstract:

Téma bakalářské práce je britská populární kultura sedmdesátých let 20. století. Obecně jsou sedmdesátá léta vnímá jako nepříznivé období. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda se nepříznivá ekonomická situace v 70. letech promítla i do kulturního života Britů. Práce se skládá z pěti částí. První je úvod, dále navazuje kapitola, která se zabývá ekonomickou a politickou situací v 70. letech. Třetí kapitola rozebírá fenomény typické pro 70. léta. Čtvrtá kapitola zkoumá vybrané oblasti britské populární kultury dané dekády a poslední kapitolu tvoří závěr. I navzdory nelehké situaci si v sedmdesátých letech Britové užívali pestrý kulturní život.

Abstract:

The theme of my bachelor thesis is British Popular Culture of the 1970s. There is a conventional wisdom that the seventies were an unfavorable decade for Britain in general. The key objective of this thesis is to find out what impact ecocnomical an social situation in the 1970 had on popular culture of this decade. The thesis consists of five parts the introduction, three main chapters and the conclusion. The introduction briefly sums up the major affairs of the 1970s. The first chapter deals with the complicated economical and political situation in Britain in the 1970s. The second chapter describes selected phenomena of british life, for example the sexual revolution, holildays abroad or poupular consumer goods, such as toys or automobiles. The third chapter aims on films, television and popular music genres of the 1970s. The development of technology and the arrival of new external influences contributed to bloom of British popular culture. In spite of the restless situation which is usually connected with economic slowdown, the British enjoyed during the 1970s eventful cultural life.
