Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vnitřními i vnějšími vlivy ovlivňující hodnotu akcií společností videoherního trhu. Zkoumanými společnostmi jsou společnosti Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Nintendo a Sony. Pro základní zmapování významných minulých změn v hodnotách akcií zkoumaných společností byla použita metoda klouzavého průměru a byla vybrána časová období s největšími změnami v hodnotách akcií. Byla provedena studie vybraných událostí, které se odehrály v daném období a bylo určeno, že vydávání kvalitních her a oznamování o vývoji navazujícího nového produktu má pozitivní vliv na hodnoty akcií. Také byla použita metoda segmentované lineární regrese pro určení vztahu a změn v tomto vztahu mezi hodnotami akcií a kumulativním počtem případů COVID-19. Byl nalezen důkaz o pozitivním vlivu pandemie na hodnotách akcií zkoumaných společností, také bylo zjištěno, že tento vliv nebyl trvalý. Poslední část práce se zaměřuje na predikování budoucích hodnot akcií zkoumaných společností. Výsledné predikce použitého modelu random forest předpovídají budoucí pokles hodnot akcií zkoumaných videoherních společností. Kromě hodnot akcií společnosti Ubisoft, u kterých je predikován značný růst. Tento výzkum se zaměřuje na spíše základní zmapování vlivů na hodnoty akcií více videoherních společností. Navazující výzkum by se mohl zaměřit na hlubší průzkum vlivů na jednotlivé společnosti a vytvořit podrobnější popis konkrétních událostí.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis examines both internal and external factors that influence the stock price of companies in the video game industry. The study focuses on Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Nintendo, and Sony. To map significant past changes in the stock prices of these companies, the method of moving averages was used, and time periods with the most significant changes in stock prices were selected. The study also analyzed selected events that occurred during these periods and found that releasing high-quality games and announcing the development of new products positively affects stock prices. Additionally, segmented linear regression was used to determine the relationship and changes in the relationship between stock prices and the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases. Evidence was found of the pandemic's positive impact on the stock prices of the studied companies, but this effect was not permanent. The final part of the thesis focuses on predicting future stock prices of the examined companies. The resulting predictions of the random forest model used suggest a future decline in the stock prices of the video game companies, except for Ubisoft, whose stock price is predicted to grow significantly. This research provides a basic overview of the factors influencing the stock prices of five video game companies. Future research could focus on deeper exploration of the effects on individual companies and create a more detailed description of specific events.
