Abstract:

Klima se začíná rychle proměňovat a reakce rostlin na tuto změnu nemusí být dostatečně rychlá. Sucho je jeden z hlavních abiotických stresorů pro rostliny a v dnešní době zaznamenáváme čím dál vyšší extrémy. Sucho v různých intenzitách ovlivňuje přírůst rostlin. V této práci jsme se zaměřili na monitorování růstových reakcí na stres suchem pro dva významné středomořské druhy dubů – Quercus faginea Lam. jakožto zástupce opadavých druhů a Quercus ilex L., stálezelený druh. Byly monitorovány objemové změny kmene jako reakce na stres suchem. Měření byla prováděna bodovými dendrometry umístěnými na kmenech stromů. Pomocí půdních senzorů byla také sledována teplota vzduchu a půdy a také vlhkost půdy. Sledované období (2018–2021) zahrnovala významná období sucha, která postihla nejen zkoumanou lokalitu, ale celou Evropu. Quercus faginea vykazoval po celou dobu měření jak vyšší hodnoty přírůstu, tak lepší zvládání stresu než Q. ilex. Stejně tak Q. faginea vykazoval menší ukazatele stresu smrštěním kmene (TWD) a lepší návrat do původních hodnot po odeznění stresu než Q. ilex. Z měření tak vyplývá, že na daných plochách se lépe dařilo Q. faginea. Tato měření mají velký význam z hlediska budoucího vývoje klimatu. Dlouhodobé sledování reakcí rostlin na takto rychlé změny klimatu může být klíčové pro další postupy při snaze zachovat dosavadní podobu ekosystémů.

Abstract:

Drought, as one of the main external stressors for plants, has been known for a long time. Drought at various intensities affects plant growth, and nowadays we are experiencing ever higher extremes. The climate is beginning to change rapidly and the plants' response to this change may not be fast enough. In this work, we focused on monitoring growth responses to drought stress for two important Mediterranean oak species - Quercus faginea Lam. as a representative of deciduous species and Quercus ilex L., an evergreen species. Stem volume changes and drought stress responses were monitored. Growth measurements were performed with point dendrometers located on tree trunks. The temperature at various levels as well as soil moisture was monitored using TMS-4 sensors. In the observed period (2018–2021), significant periods of drought were observed, which affected not only the study site but the whole of Europe. Quercus faginea showed both higher growth rates and better stress management than Quercus ilex throughout the measurement. Quercus faginea showed a better return to stem shrinkage (TWD) baseline values after exposure in the first two years than Q. ilex, and the measurements show that Q. faginea performed better on the given areas. These measurements are of great importance for future climate developments. Monitoring plant responses to such rapid changes requires long-term research but may be key to further efforts to maintain ecosystems.
