The Problematics of Dying and Death in the Context of Andragogical Practice

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce chce čtenářům ukázat, že umírání a smrt patří do našeho života a je jeho součástí a jak nejlépe využít čas, který umírajícím zbývá. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části - teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na poskytování péče hospicové či paliativní; charakterizuje rozdíly v nich. Definuje smrt jako takovou, zaměřuje se na její druhy včetně procesů umírání a v neposlední řadě na potřeby umírajícího a na komunikaci jak s pacienty, tak jejich blízkými. Naproti tomu se praktická část formou kvantitativního výzkumu snaží zjistit do jaké míry má tato problematika vliv na naše vlastní vnímání umírání a smrti, zda lidé jsou schopni se postarat o své umírající blízké, stejně tak jaký dopad může mít zkušenost se smrtí na náš vlastní život a zda a jak se lidé se smrtí dokáží vyrovnat.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis wants to show readers that dying and death belong to our lives and are part of it, and how best to use the time left for the people that are dying. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part focuses on the provision of hospice or palliative care; characterizes the differences in them. It defines death as such, focuses on its types, including the processes of dying and, last but not least, on the needs of the dying person and on communication with both patients and their loved ones. In contrast, the practical part focuses on quantitative research in which it seeks to determine the extent to which this issue affects our own perception of dying and death, whether people are able to take care of their dying loved ones, as well as what impact the experience of death can have on our own lives and whether and how people can cope with death.
