Malnutrition of elderly hospitalized in the hospital for long term illnesses

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá malnutricí seniorů a problematikou v oblasti výživy. Malnutrice je označení pro stav, při kterém je nedostatečně pokrytá nutriční potřeba člověka. Nejvíce ohroženou skupinou jsou senioři, kdy je malnutrice velmi často spojena s pobytem v nemocničním zařízení. Malnutrice způsobuje zvýšenou náchylnost k onemocněním, má nepříznivý vliv na hojení ran, komplikace a v extrémních případech může vést až ke smrti. Je proto důležité se tématu malnutrice a výživy u seniorů, ale i obecně, věnovat a snažit se o její včasnou diagnostiku. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou. V úvodu je charakterizováno stáří jako takové, fyziologické změny ve stáří a s tím související změny požadavky na výživu. Dále je zde zmíněná problematika malnutrice a způsoby její diagnostiky. Cílem práce bylo dle získaných dat zpracování podrobné kazuistiky, vyhodnocení pacientova nutričního stavu dle dotazníku MNA (viz. Přílohy) a zpracování následného ošetřovatelského procesu. Metodikou bakalářské práce byla kazuistika. Při zpracování kazuistiky byla použita metoda práce s lékařskou a ošetřovatelskou dokumentací, rozhovor s ošetřovatelským personálem a rozhovor s pacientem. Výsledkem práce bylo zjištění nutričního stavu pacienta a sepsání doporučení pro praxi, s využitím získaných dat o pacientovi.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with malnutrition of seniors and issues in the field of nutrition. Malnutrition is a term for a condition in which a person's nutritional needs are insufficiently covered. The most vulnerable group are the elderly, where malnutrition is very often associated with a stay in a hospital. Malnutrition causes an increased susceptibility to disease, has an adverse effect on wound healing, complications and in extreme cases can lead to death. It is therefore important to address the topic of malnutrition and nutrition in the elderly, but also in general, and try to diagnose it early. The work is divided into theoretical and practical. The introduction characterizes old age as such, physiological changes in old age and related changes in nutritional requirements. Furthermore, the issue of malnutrition and methods of its diagnosis are mentioned. The aim of the work was, according to the obtained data, the elaboration of a detailed case report, the evaluation of the patient's nutritional status according to the MNA questionnaire (see Appendices) and the elaboration of the subsequent nursing process. The methodology of the bachelor thesis was case study. During the elaboration of the case study, the method of working with medical and nursing documentation, with nursing staff and interviewing the patient was used. work was to determine the nutritional status of the patient and write recommendations for practice, using the data obtained about the patient.
