Adverse effects associated with vaccination against Covid-19

Abstract:

Úvod: Vakcinace je účinná prevence proti onemocnění Covid-19, které se stalo pandemií a na následky tohoto onemocnění zemřelo mnoho lidí. Vakcinace taktéž zmírňuje průběh tohoto onemocnění. Vakcíny však způsobují celou řadu nežádoucích imunitních reakcí. V praktické časti je zjištění nejčastěji se objevujících nežádoucích účinků u zaměstnanců Zdravotního ústavu Ostrava. Metodika: Při zkoumání se vycházelo z dotazníkového šetření: "Prospektivní studie imunitní odpovědi proti SARS-CoV-2 u zaměstnanců Zdravotního ústavu Ostrava" (n = 289). Nežádoucí účinky byly sledovány u 193 osob se základním očkovacím schématem, z toho 187 bylo očkováno dvěma dávkami, 6 jednou dávkou a 107 posilující dávkou. Byla zvolená tištěná forma dotazníků. Byla použita základní popisná statistika pro zpracování dat. K vyhodnocení byly využity statistické testy chí-kvadrát test a při malé četnosti Fisherův exaktní test, které byly hodnocené na hladině významnosti 5 %. Pro statistické zpracování byl použit program OpenEpi. Výsledky: U účastníku studie převažovalo očkování vakcínou Pfizer Comirnaty (93 %). Po základním schématu očkování se nežádoucí účinky vyskytly u 88 % osob, statisticky významně vyšší výskyt byl u žen (p = 0,005). Po posilující dávce byl výskyt nežádoucích účinků nižší (80 %). Nejčastěji byla uváděna bolest v místě vpichu - u 1. dávky 71 %, u 2. dávky 66 % a u 3. dávky 72 %. Únavu uvedlo po 1. dávce 38 %, po 2. dávce 46 % a po 3. dávce 45 % respondentů. Bolest hlavy pociťovalo po 1. a 2. dávce 19 % a po 3. dávce 21 % respondentů. Zaměstnanci si stěžovali na bolest kloubů nebo svalů v 13 % případů po 1. dávce, po 2. dávce ve 20 % případů a po posilující dávce 17 % případů. Horečku mělo po 1. a 3. dávce 7 % a po 2. dávce 9 % respondentů. Závěr: Nežádoucí účinky uvádělo pro základním schématu 88 %, po posilující dávce 80 %. Nejčastěji byla uváděna bolest v místě vpichu, únava, bolest hlavy, bolest kloubů nebo svalů a dále horečka. Závažné nežádoucí účinky se nevyskytly u žádného účastníka studie.

Abstract:

Introduction: Vaccination is an effective prevention against the disease Covid-19, which has become a pandemic and many people have died as a result of this disease. Vaccination also mitigates the course of this disease. However, vaccines cause a number of adverse immune reactions. In the practical part, the detection of the most frequently occurring adverse effects among the employees of the Ostrava Health Institute is carried out. Methods: The research was based on a questionnaire survey: "Prospective study of the immune response against SARS-CoV-2 in employees of the Health Institute of Ostrava" (n = 289). Adverse effects were monitored in 193 people with the basic vaccination schedule, of which 187 were vaccinated with two doses, 6 with a single dose and 107 with a booster dose. The printed form of the questionnaires was chosen. Basic descriptive statistics were used for data processing. Statistical tests were used for evaluation, the chi-square test and, at low frequencies, the Fisher's exact test, which were evaluated at a significance level of 5 % The OpenEpi program was used for statistical processing. Results: Vaccination with the Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine prevailed in the study participant (93 %). After the basic vaccination schedule, adverse effects occurred in 88 % of people, with a statistically significantly higher incidence in women (p = 0.005). After the booster dose, the incidence of side effects was lower (80 %). Pain at the injection site was reported most often - 71 % for the 1st dose, 66 % for the 2nd dose and 72 % for the 3rd dose. Fatigue was reported by 38 % after the 1st dose, 46 % after the 2nd dose and 45 % after the 3rd dose. Headache was experienced by 19 % of the respondents after the 1st and 2nd doses and 21 % after the 3rd dose. Workers complained of joint or muscle pain in 13 % of cases after the 1st dose, in 20 % of cases after the 2nd dose, and in 17 % of cases after the booster dose. 7 % of respondents had a fever after the 1st and 3rd dose and 9% after the 2nd dose. Conclusion: Adverse effects were reported by 88 % for the basic regimen and 80 % after the booster dose. Pain at the injection site, fatigue, headache, joint or muscle pain, and fever were reported most frequently. No serious adverse effects occurred in any study participant.
