BoolTest with complex functions

Abstract:

BoolTest je program na testovanie náhodnosti, ktorý používa boolovské funkcie ako rozlišovacie funkcie na testovanie dát. Táto diplomová práca skúmala rôzne potencionálne spôsoby vylepšenia schopnosti BoolTestu vytvárať tieto funkcie. Práca navrhuje rozdeliť proces vytvárania týchto funkcií do dvoch krokov a prezentuje prístupy pre oba kroky tohto procesu. Navrhnuté koncepty boli vyhodnotené v porovnaní s originálnym BoolTest-om na rôznych generátoroch pseudonáhodných čísel. Výsledky tohto porovnania sú veľmi sľubné, keďže nový BoolTest pri použití iteratívnej párovej analýzy detekoval nenáhodné dáta v 56% všetkých testov, kým originálny BoolTest dosiahol úspešnosť len 35%. Rozdiel medzi nimi bol mimoriadne značný pre jednoduché xorshift generátory, kde nový BoolTest uspel vo viac ako 75% všetkých testov, kým originálny len v 28%.

Abstract:

BoolTest is a randomness tester that utilises boolean functions as distinguishers to test data. This master thesis examined potential improvements of BoolTest’s distinguisher construction ability. The thesis proposes splitting the construction process into two steps and puts forward approaches for both steps of the process. The proposed concepts were evaluated against the original BoolTest on a suite of eight pseudo-random number generators. The results of this evaluation are very promising, as the new BoolTest utilising iterative pair analysis was able to detect non-random data in 56% of all tests, while the original achieved a rate of just 35%. The difference between them was especially significant for simple generators from the xorshift family of generators, where the new BoolTest succeeded in more than 75% of all tests, while the original one in just 28%.
