Tertiary education funding system and it´s influence on tertiary education

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je popsat systémy terciárního vzdělávání a způsoby jejich financování ve vybraných zemích a zjistit, zda má způsob financování vliv na terciární vzdělávání. Je analyzována korelace mezi způsobem financování a úspěšností studentů a dále mezi jednotlivými charakteristikami daných vysokoškolských systémů (nezaměstnanost absolventů, mzdová prémie absolventů, podíl vysokoškolsky vzdělaných obyvatel na populaci dané země a úspěšnost vysokoškolských studentů)Na základě statistické analýzy a zjištěné pozitivní korelace má způsob financování vliv na úspěšnost studentů. Dále mezi mzdovou prémií vysokoškolských absolventů a jejich zastoupením v populaci byla zjištěna negativní korelace stejně jako mezi rozdílem v míře nezaměstnanosti vysokoškolsky a středoškolsky vzdělaných lidí a mezi podílem vysokoškolsky vzdělaných lidí v populaci.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the systems of tertiary education and ways of their financing in selected countries and to find the influence that the method of financing has on tertiary education. This influence is sought through correlations between the method of financing and the selected parameter and also between the individual characteristics of the given higher education systems (graduate unemployment, graduate wage premium, share of university-educated population in the country's population and university student success)Based on a statistical analysis and a positive correlation, the method of financing has an impact on student success. Furthermore, a negative correlation was found between the wage premium of tertiary graduates and their representation in the population, as well as between the difference in the unemployment rate of tertiary and secondary educated people and between the share of university-educated people in the population.
