Beginning teachers and their professional adaptation

Abstract:

Procesům přizpůsobování se člověka jeho měnícím se životním podmínkám a prostředí se výzkumní odborníci zabývají již desítky let. Tato magisterská diplomová práce se blíže zaměřuje právě na problematiku profesní adaptace začínajících učitelů. Obsahově se práce člení na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část popisuje, co adaptace v obecné i profesní rovině vlastně znamená a neopomíjí ani veškeré důležité složky, jež se k profesní adaptaci vztahují – tedy např. proces uvádění učitelů, mentoring, problémy začínajících učitelů atd. Výzkumná část se pak konkrétně orientuje na interpretace vnímání adaptačního procesu z perspektivy začínajících učitelů vyučujících na prvním stupni základních škol v Jihomoravském kraji. Pro samotné empirické šetření byly využity metody kvalitativního výzkumu, přičemž samotné rozhovory byly uskutečněny s použitím polostrukturovaného postupu. Celá práce se pak opírá o české i zahraniční výzkumy zabývající se touto problematikou i o názory a postoje odborných praktiků i teoretiků. Za prioritní cíl si práce klade zjistit, jak začínající učitelé na prvním stupni základních škol vnímají a prožívají proces své profesní adaptace.

Abstract:

Research experts have been dealing with the processes of human adaptation to their changing living conditions and environment for decades. This master's thesis focuses specifically on the issue of professional adaptation of beginning teachers. In terms of content, the work is classified into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part describes what adaptation actually means on a general and professional level and does not neglect all the important components related to professional adaptation – e.g. teacher induction process, mentoring, problems of beginning teachers, etc. The research part then specifically focuses on the interpretation of the perception of the adaptation process from the perspective of beginning teachers who teach at the first stage of primary schools in the South Moravian Region. Qualitative research methods were used for the empirical investigation, while the interviews themselves were conducted using a semi-structured procedure. The entire work is based on Czech and foreign research dealing with this issue as well as on the opinions and attitudes of professional practitioners and theorists. The primary goal of the work is to determine how beginning teachers at the first stage of primary schools perceive and experience the process of their professional adaptation.
