Internal migration in the Czech Republic in relation to socio-demographic indicators

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vnitřním stěhováním mezi SO ORP v České republice. Cílem práce je popis vnitřního stěhování v období 2018-2022 a nalezení faktorů ovlivňujících migrační atraktivitu SO ORP, jedna kapitola je věnována změnám ve vnitřní migraci během covid-19. K popisu migrační situace byly použity základní demografické migrační ukazatele, hodnocení atraktivity SO ORP je provedeno korelačními koeficienty, shluková analýza poté seskupí SO ORP s podobnou migrační atraktivitou a podobnými socioekonomickými charakteristikami. V práci jsou využity statistické údaje pocházející z běžné evidence ČSÚ, ale také ze SLDB 2021, Exekutorské komory ČR nebo Policie ČR. Největší roli v českém vnitřním stěhování hraje suburbanizace, zejména ta v okolí Prahy, v menší míře také v okolí dalších velkých českých měst. Některé SO ORP, zejména v širším okolí velkých měst, mají migrační přírůstek i přes méně příznivý stav socioekonomických ukazatelů, některé, především na Vysočině nebo jihovýchodní Moravě, zase i přes například nižší nezaměstnanost zažívají úbytek vnitřní migrací.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on internal migration between the regions (SO ORP) in the Czech Republic. The goal of the thesis is to describe the internal migration in the period 2018-2022, looking for factors affecting the migration attractiveness of regions, one chapter is devoted to changes in internal migration during covid-19. To describe the migration situation, basic demographic migration indicators were used, the assessment of the attractiveness of regions is carried out by correlation coefficients, cluster analysis then groups regions with similar migration attractiveness and similar socio-economic characteristics. The thesis uses statistical data from the regular Czech Statistical Office records, but also from the Census 2021, the Chamber of Executors of the Czech Republic or the Police of the Czech Republic. Suburbanization plays the largest role in Czech internal migration, especially around Prague, and to a lesser extent also around other large Czech cities. Some regions, especially in the wider surroundings of large cities, have experienced an increase in migration despite the less favourable state of socio-economic indicators, while others, especially in Vysočina or south-eastern Moravia, have experienced a decline in internal migration despite, for example, lower unemployment.
