Mats for kids

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is dedicated to the design and creation of children's mats, conceptualized as carpets, intended to foster the development of children's play and imagination through the game. It examines with and explores montessori techniques from their foundational principles trying to provide children a space for their play and developmental growth. Given that I worked mainly with child users, a significant part of this research involved an in-depth investigation of materials, the work with children itself, and the dialogue between them and the external environment, where we speak of their parents, teachers, or child psychologist. The entire product functions as one big puzzle, into which other new parts can be varied. The carpet shapes come out of geometric shapes, which are inherently the most natural to children. It is an activity that stimulates children's senses and imagination. The result is thus a product that works both as an educational aid as well as a decorative element for the interior of a child's room or nursery school.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa venuje tvorbe detských podložiek, ktoré majú vo formách kobercov skrz hru prispieť k rozvíjaniu detskej hry a fantázie. Zaoberá sa a skúma montessori techniky od ich základu a snaží sa deťom ponúknuť priestor na hranie a ich rozvoj. Keďže som pracovala hlavne s detským užívateľom, dôležitou časťou výskumu bola obsiahlejšia rešerš materiálov, samotná práca s deťmi a dialóg medzi nimi a vonkajším prostredím, pri ktorom hovoríme o ich rodičoch, učiteľoch, či detskom psychológovi. Celý produkt funguje ako jedna veľká skladačka, do ktorej možno variovať aj ďalšie nové časti. Tvary kobercov vychádzajú z geometrických tvarov, ktoré sú pre deti jedny z najprirodzenejších. Je to aktivita, pri ktorej sa stimulujú detské zmysly a fantázia. Výsledkom je teda produkt, ktorý funguje ako edukačná pomôcka, tak aj ako dekoračný prvok do interiéru detskej izby či priestorov škôlky.
