Small Czech publishers and Czech book market

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce s názvem Malí nakladatelé na českém knižním trhu se věnuje mapování malonakladatelské scény na českém knižním trhu. Klade si za cíl základní výzkum v dané oblasti a prvotní zmapování této scény. Teoretická část práce se věnuje současné situaci na knižním trhu v obecné rovině – s ohledem na trendy a pandemii nemoci covid-19, dále je v teoretické části popsáno fungování současného knižního trhu především z pohledu malého nakladatele. Praktická část je věnována výzkumu na vybraném vzorku nakladatelů. Mezi 25 nakladateli byl proveden kvalitativní výzkum, který se zaměřil na jejich knižní produkci, ekonomické aspekty jejich fungování, distribuční kanály a jejich podmínky a v neposlední řadě se výzkum zaměřil na problémy a potřeby subjektů nejen s ohledem na probíhající pandemii. V závěru práce se na základě získaných poznatků nastíněn možný další vývoj malonakladatelské scény i knižního trhu obecně.

Abstract:

The M.A. thesis called Small publishers and the Czech Book Market describes the position of small publishers on the Czech book market. The aim of the thesis is basic research in the field and a preliminary survey of the market. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the contemporary situation of the book market with regards to trends and the COVID-19 pandemic. The book market mechanisms from the point of view of small publishers are also described in this part. The practical part is dedicated to research of a specific sample of small publishers. The qualitative research, carried out among 25 publishers, focused on their book production, the economic aspects of their business, their problems and needs, not only with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of this thesis is presented presumed development of small publishers and whole book market. There is a presumed development of small publishers and the entire book market presented at the end of the thesis.
