Literary Czech Language in the Těšín Region. Attitudes and Reality

Abstract:

Cílem předkládané práce je zjistit aktuální stav vnímání spisovné češtiny mezi mladou generací na Těšínsku. V teoretické části je ukázáno, jaké místo má spisovná čeština v rámci stratifikace národního jazyka, jsou představeny vybrané radikální návrhy některých lingvistů, které tuto tradiční pozici spisovné češtiny zpochybňují, dále je věnována pozornost pozici spisovné češtiny v současné koncepci vzdělávání a charakteristice jazykové situace Těšínska. Předmětem praktické části je na základě dotazníkového šetření zjistit, jaký postoj zaujímají žáci devátého ročníku základní školy a studenti gymnázia ke spisovné češtině a k její potřebnosti v současné společnosti. Rezultát tohoto šetření je porovnán s úrovní jazykové stránky slohových prací. Ukáže se tak, do jaké míry lze některé z publikovaných názorů na ústup spisovné češtiny pokládat za univerzální.

Abstract:

The aim of given work is to determine current situation of perception of literary Czech language among the young generation in the Těšín region. Theoretical part of the dissertation points out the position of literary Czech language in the frame of stratification of national language, followed by the introduction of selected radical proposals of some current linguists who dispute the tradition position of literary Czech language. By the end of this part, the focus is put on the position of literary Czech language in the contemporary concept of education and characterization of language situation in Těšín region. Practical part of the work attempts to find out via questionnaire what attitude towards literary language is taken by the ninth grade students in primary schools and by high school students. The results of this questionnaire are compared with the level of the language used in their essays. This will demonstrate to which extent it is possible to consider some of the published opinions on the decline of the literary Czech language as universal.
