Differences in the Establishment of a Tour Operator and a Travel Agent

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu a porovnání legislativních podmínek pro založení cestovních kanceláří a cestovních agentur v České republice. Cestovní ruch je dynamický sektor s významným dopadem na ekonomiku a společnost, přičemž cestovní kanceláře a agentury jsou jeho klíčovými aktéry. Práce identifikuje a porovnává legislativní požadavky nutné pro jejich založení. Následně hodnotí jejich dopady na rozhodovací procesy podnikatelů. Metodologie zahrnuje literární rešerši, analýzu právních předpisů a komparativní analýzu. Hlavní zjištění ukazují, že existují významné rozdíly v legislativních požadavcích mezi cestovními kancelářemi a agenturami, což může výrazně ovlivnit rozhodnutí o typu podnikání. Založení cestovní kanceláře vyžaduje vyšší počáteční investice a splnění přísnějších kritérií ve srovnání s cestovními agenturami, které jsou méně náročné jak finančně, tak administrativně. Pro nové podnikatele může být založení cestovní agentury výhodnější, jelikož nevyžaduje rozsáhlé počátečních investice. Na druhou stranu, založení cestovní kanceláře nabízí větší kontrolu nad poskytovanými službami a vyšší potenciální zisky z komplexnějších cestovních balíčků.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis and comparison of the legislative conditions for the establishment of tour operators and travel agencies in the Czech Republic. Tourism is a dynamic sector with a significant impact on the economy and society, and tour operators and travel agencies are its key actors. The thesis identifies and compares the legislative requirements necessary for their establishment. Then it assesses their impact on the decision-making processes of entrepreneurs. The methodology includes a literature search, legislative analysis and comparative analysis. The main findings show that there are significant differences in legislative requirements between travel agencies and tour operators, which can significantly influence the decision on the type of business. Establishing a tour operator requires a higher initial investment and meeting more stringent criteria compared to travel agencies, which are less demanding both financially and administratively. For new entrepreneurs, setting up a travel agency may be more advantageous as it does not require a large initial investment. On the other hand, setting up a tour operator offers greater control over services and higher potential profits from more complex travel packages.
