Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem " Designing a pre-deployment English language course for the Czech Armed Forces personnel’" zobrazuje proces tvorby jazykového kurzu zaměřeného na rozvoj komunikačních dovedností a postupné kroky vedoucí k vytvoření kurzu. Cílem práce je sestavit kurz anglického jazyka, a to přímo na míru potřebám vojáků. Práce je rozdělena do tří částí. První teoretická část představuje současný stav jazykového vzdělávání v Armádě České republiky a jeho legislativní rámec. Tato část pokračuje popisem přístupů k výuce Angličtiny pro specifické účely a komunikačním kompetencím. Teoretická část je ukončena popisem postupu tvorby kurzů a představením způsobů sběru informací, které byly využity jako informační podklad pro výzkumnou část práce. Ve výzkumné části navíc nalezneme informace získané ze zahraničních zdrojů a z osobních zkušeností autora práce. Na konci této části jsou uvedeny výsledky analýzy potřeb vojáků, která byla provedena dotazníkovým šetřením. Závěrečná část práce obsahuje vytvořený kurz, jeho osnovy a detaily výuky vybraných lekcí.

Abstract:

The Master‘s thesis called ‘Designing a pre-deployment English language course for the Czech Armed Forces personnel’ illustrates the process of language course development with a focus on communication skills. It describes the sequence of steps leading to the creation of the course. The thesis aims to design an English course tailored to the soldiers’ needs. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first theoretical part introduces the current state of language education within the Czech Armed Forces and its legislative framework. This part continues by describing English for Specific Purposes and communicative competence teaching approaches. The part outlines the course development and information collection method used for retrieving data for the research part. The research part of the thesis comprises information retrieved from international and the author’s experience. The second part concluded with a needs analysis using a questionnaire to ascertain soldiers’ needs. The last part of the thesis conveys the developed course, its syllabus and teaching details of selected lessons.
