Assessment of Regional Structure of Education in the Context of Macroeconomical Indicators

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je sestavit a ohodnotit strukturu vzdělanosti v regionech České republiky dle klasifikace NUTS 2. Hlavní částí práce je sestavení ukazatele průměrného počtu let vzdělávání, následuje ohodnocení a srovnání jednotlivých regionů a grafická analýza. Sestavený ukazatel bude následně využit jako proxy proměnná zastupující lidský kapitál ve vybraných produkčních funkcích, které jsou počítány panelovou regresí. Součástí práce je rešerše na téma vyjádření lidského kapitálu pomocí vzdělání a výsledky využití těchto proxy proměnných v produkčních funkcích. Odhadnuté hodnoty budou dány do souvislosti s vývojem makroekonomických ukazatelů a porovnány s výsledky vybraných produkčních funkcí popsaných v rámci rešerše. K výpočtům budou využita data z Českého statistického úřadu, VŠPS a regionálních účtů. Následuje zhodnocení vlivu struktury vzdělání na ekonomický vývoj regionů a zhodnocení sestaveného ukazatele jako proxy proměnné. Závěrem práce je potvrzení vlivu struktury vzdělanosti na ekonomický vývoj.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is statistical analysis of the impact of educational structure on economical growth of Czech NUTS 2 regions by average years of schooling. The main part of this thesis contains of composing a variable of average schooling years, evaluating regions using the composed variable and following graphical analysis. The estimated coefficient is then used as a proxy variable representing human capital in selected production functions estimated by panel regression. Part of the thesis is a review of variables based on education representing human capital and their efficiency as a production function proxy variable. The estimated values were put in context with the economical development and compared to the results of selected production functions described in the review. The data source is the Czech Statistical Office, VŠPS and regional accounts. This is followed by assessment of the impact of education structure on economical growth and assessment of average years of schooling as a proxy variable representing human capital. The conclusion of the thesis is the confirmation of the impact of educational structure on the economical growth.
