Farm animals welfare in the law perspective

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce vznikla jako výsledek mého studia na vysoké škole. Tématem této práce je welfare hospodářských zvířat. Práci jsem rozdělila na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části se zabývám samotným pojmem welfare, jeho klasifikací a právními předpisy upravující ochranu a welfare hospodářských zvířat. Vdruhé polovině teoretické části se věnuji pouze skotu, jeho historií, chovu a aspektům k udržení správného welfare. Skot jsem si vybrala, jelikož je mému srdci nejblíže. Cílem je zjistit, jak široké povědomí má veřejnost o welfare hospodářských zvířat. Dalším cílem je ověření dodržování podmínek v chovu a případné navržení legislativních změn. Praktická část této práce se zaměřuje na sběr a vyhodnocení samotných dat z dotazníku. Další součástí praktické části je vyhodnocení počtu porušení welfare v Ústeckém kraji za roky 2020, 2021, 2022 a 2023. Dále také zhodnocení, zda bio chov znamená dobré welfare u zvířat.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis was written as a result of my studies at university. The topic of this thesis is livestock welfare. I divided the thesis into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part I deal with the concept of welfare itself, its classification and the legislation governing the protection and welfare of farm animals. In the second half of the theoretical part, I deal only with cattle, their history, breeding and aspects to maintain proper welfare. I chose cattle because they are the closest to my heart. The aim is to find out how much awareness the public has of livestock welfare. Another aim is to check compliance with husbandry conditions and possibly suggest legislative changes. The practical part of this thesis focuses on collecting and evaluating the data from the questionnaire itself. Another part of the practical part is the evaluation of the number of welfare violations in the Ústí nad Labem region for the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Furthermore, the evaluation of whether organic farming means good animal welfare.
