Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economic performance of countries

Abstract:

Tato práce se důkladně věnuje celkovému obrazu ekonomické situace v rámci Evropské unie. Analýza je prováděna pomocí makroekonomických indikátorů, jako je hrubý domácí produkt, nezaměstnanost, obchodní bilance a inflace. Tyto faktory slouží jako klíčové indikátory ekonomického zdraví a výkonnosti zemí. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny základní pojmy týkající se ekonomické výkonnosti zemí a definovány primární makroekonomické ukazatele, které slouží k měření těchto aspektů. Dále je rozebírána problematika pandemie Covid-19, včetně postupu jejího šíření do vybraných zemí a dopadů na ekonomiku. Praktická část práce se zaměřuje na konkrétní analýzu dopadů pandemie Covid-19 na vybrané země v sledovaném období. Jsou zde zkoumány změny v makroekonomických ukazatelích a jakým způsobem se pandemie projevila na jejich vývoji. V závěru práce jsou provedeny komparace mezi zeměmi, které byly nejvíce zasaženy krizí spojenou s pandemií Covid-19.

Abstract:

This thesis thoroughly examines the overall economic situation within the European Union. The analysis is conducted using macroeconomic indicators such as gross domestic product, unemployment, trade balance, and inflation. These factors serve as key indicators of the economic health and performance of countries. In the theoretical section, fundamental concepts related to the economic performance of countries are defined, and primary macroeconomic indicators, used to measure these aspects, are specified. Furthermore, the issue of the Covid-19 pandemic is dissected, including its spread into selected countries and its impact on the economy. The practical part of the thesis focuses on a specific analysis of the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on selected countries during the observed period. Changes in macroeconomic indicators are examined, along with how the pandemic affected their trends. In the conclusion of the thesis, comparisons are made between countries that were most affected by the crisis associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.
