Tato práce se zabývá levicovými tématy v raných dílech Eugena O´Neilla. V teoretic-ké části podává stručný přehled O´Neillova života do roku 1925, jsou zde popsány důležité momenty, které formovaly jeho osobnost a ovlivnily jeho tvorbu. Analytická část se zabývá čtyřmi vybranými divadelními hrami Eugena O´Neilla, přičemž každá z nich se zabývá jiným společenským problémem, který u O´Neilla a jeho diváků rezonoval. Hlavní výzkumná otázka zní: "Jaká jsou levicová/socialistická témata v dílech Eugena O´Neilla". "Jaký postoj ke společnosti O´Neill ve svých dílech prezentuje

Abstract:

This thesis is dealing with the leftist themes in the early works of Eugene O´Neill. In the theoretical part it gives a brief overview of O´Neill life until 1925, important moments that shaped his personality and influenced his works are described. The analytical part deals with four selected plays by Eugene O´Neill, with each of them tackling a different social issue that resonated with O´Neill and his audiences. The main research questions are: “What are the leftist/socialist themes in the works of Eu-gene O´Neill.” “What attitude does O´Neill present towards society in his works.”
