Insurance market in the Czech Republic in years 2001 - 2006

Abstract:

Pojištění a pojišťovnictví má nezastupitelnou pozici v národním hospodářství. Je to kategorie trhu, která je ve vyspělém světe jedním z nejvýznamnějších odvětví ekonomiky. Prvotním úkolem pojišťovnictví je zajistit pojistnou ochranu občana či jiného individuálního subjektu, zabezpečit finanční eliminaci rizik. Mezi další hlavní úkoly patří přispět k bezporuchovému chodu ekonomiky státu a konkurovat či spolupracovat s bankovním sektorem na finančním trhu. Období od roku 2001 - 2006 lze označit za stabilní a zdravý vývoj českého pojistného trhu. Přesto lze konstatovat, že v úrovni rozvoje pojistného trhu ČR za vyspělými státy poněkud zaostává. To je patrné při porovnání objemu předepsaného pojistného a hrubého domácího produktu. Ještě větší odstup je vidět po rozdělení pojištění zvlášť na životní a neživotní.

Abstract:

The insurance business and insurance itself have an irreplaceable position in the national economy. This is a type of market which represents one of the most important branches of the economy in developed countries. The primary function of the insurance business is to provide protection to a citizen or another individual subject by insurance, and to ensure financial elimination of risks. Additionally, it should contribute to the smooth running of the national economy, to compete as well as cooperate with the banking sector on financial markets. The time period from 2001 until 2006 can be described as a stable and healthy development of the insurance market. In spite of that it could be stated that the level of development of the insurance market in the CR is considerably behind the level existing in the more developed countries. This can be seen, for example, in a comparison of the amount of obligatory insurance premium and the gross domestic product. Even a higher difference occurs in a comparison of obligatory insurance Premium, if dividend to life and non-life insurance.
