Bancrupcy prediction of land transport companies

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tvorbou a ověřením predikčních schopností modelů pro klasifikaci bankrotních společností v sektoru pozemní dopravy v Evropě. Hlavní pozornost byla věnována metodám strojového učení, konkrétně metodě rozhodovacích stromů a metodě podpůrných vektorů. Ze statistických metod byla vybrána logistické regrese. Pro dosažení tohoto cíle byl soubor společností rozdělen do trénovací, validační a testovací sady. Predikční schopnosti modelů byly po-rovnány mezi sebou a časové rovině ve schopnosti včasného varování bankrotu jednoho, dvou a tří let předem. Dále byla využita faktorová analýza pro úpravu vstupních dat s cílem zvýšení predikční schopnost modelů. S upravenými daty bylo nakládáno stejným způsobem jako s daty neupravenými. Výsledky práce byly prezentovány pomocí kontingenčních tabulek a pomocí tabulek mír klasifikace.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the development and validation of the predictive capabilities of models for the classification of bankrupt companies in the land transport sector in Europe. The main focus has been on machine learning methods, specifically the decision tree method and the support vector machine method. Among the statistical methods, logistic regression was selected. To achieve this goal, the set of companies was divided into training, validation and test sets. The predictive abilities of the models were compared with each other and with time in their ability to provide early warning of bankruptcy one, two and three years in advance. Furthermore, factor analysis was used to adjust the input data to increase the predictive ability of the models. The adjusted data were treated in the same manner as the unadjusted data. The results of the work were presented using contingency tables and using tables of classification rates.
