Abstract:

Výuka čtenářských dovedností je jednou z klíčových součástí výuky cizího jazyka. Tato práce se zaměřuje na aktivity související se čtením ve dvou učebnicích pro výuku angličtiny Motivate! 1 a Project Explore 1. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. Teoretická část se zabývá tématem učebnic, čtení a dospívajících v kontextu výuky angličtiny jako cizího jazyka. Teoretický rámec se zaměřuje na roli učebnic ve výuce cizích jazyků, na proces čtení a jeho fáze a na problematiku výuky teenagerů. Empirická práce je zaměřena na porovnání žánrů čtecích textů a počtu cvičení před četbou, během četby a po četbě a typů vhodných úloh, které se vyskytují ve vybraných učebnicích. Studie také hodnotí, nakolik jsou témata čtecích textů zajímavá pro cílovou věkovou skupinu teenagerů.

Abstract:

Teaching reading skills is one of the key part of the foreign language acquisition. This thesis focuses on reading-related activities in two ESL textbooks Motivate! 1 and Project Explore 1. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part addresses the topic of textbooks, reading, and teenagers in the context of teaching English as a second language. The theoretical framework focuses on the role of textbooks in language teaching, the reading process and its stages, and the problem of teaching teenagers. The empirical part of the thesis aims to compare the genres of the reading texts and the number of pre-reading, while-reading, and after-reading exercises and the types of appropriate tasks that appear in selected textbooks. The study also evaluates how interesting topics of the reading texts are for the target age group of young teenagers.
