''Climate fight'' as a political phenomenon: The case of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce řeší postoj politiků České republiky k celosvětovému problému, kterým jsou klimatické změny. Práce se zmiňuje o aktivistech, hnutích a skupinách, které bojují za změnu klimatu. Tím je myšleno například Extinction Rebellion, Greenpeace, Fridays for Future atd. Zmínku najdeme také o osobách, kteří klimatické změny popírají a přiklání se ke tvrzení, že klimatické změny jsou způsobeny určitými cykly a dle nich, je to zcela normální jev. Jsou zde zmíněny i konkrétní jména Českých politiků a jejich názory na situaci kolem klimatických změn. Politici nejsou jediným záměrem této práce, důležité je podotknout i práci médií, jakým způsobem podávají informace ohledně klimatické krize a jak se k celé situaci staví a jak na to reaguje česká společnost. Výzkum je zaměřen na analýzu předvolebních kampaní za poslední desetiletí v České republice a následně tak aktivitu politických subjektů, kteří se zaměřují na klimatické změny.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the attitude of the politicians of the Czech Republic towards the global problem of climate change. The work mentions activists, movements and groups fighting for climate change. This means, for example, Extinction Rebellion, Greenpeace, Fridays for Future, etc. We also find mention of people who deny climate change and are inclined to claim that climate change is caused by certain cycles and, according to them, it is a completely normal phenomenon. Specific names of Czech politicians and their opinions on the situation surrounding climate change are also mentioned here. Politicians are not the only target of this work, it is also important to point out the work of the media, how they present information regarding the climate crisis and how they approach the whole situation and how Czech society reacts to it. The research is focused on the analysis of election campaigns over the last decade in the Czech Republic and subsequently the activity of political entities that focus on climate change.
