Rural areas and demographic ageing in Southern Europe (Italy, Spain)

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá populačním poklesem a stárnutím populace v rurálních oblastech regionu jižní Evropy. Konkrétněji je zaměřena na venkov Španělska a Itálie a jejich proměnlivost v demografických změnách v průběhu tohoto století. Teze se skládá z teoretické, metodické a praktické části. V první části jsou definovány obecné termíny pro vymezení venkovského prostoru podle evropských a národních kritérií ve spojitosti s mírou urbanizace a místních regionálních politik, včetně základních demografických ukazatelů. Další část práce se soustředí na tento fenomén se spolu vstupujícími socioekonomickými faktory v kontextu obou zemí, jež jsou pro region typické. V poslední části jsou pak uplatněny získané poznatky a jejich aplikace pro specificky zasažené vybrané administrativní celky (provincie).

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with population decline and aging in rural areas of southern Europe. Specifically, it focuses on the countryside of Spain and Italy and their variability in demographic change during this century. The thesis consists of theoretical, methodological, and practical part. The first part defines general terms for the definition of rural areas according to European and national criteria in connection with the degree of urbanization and local regional policies, including basic demographic indicators. The next part of the work focuses on this phenomenon with the emerging socio-economic factors in the context of both countries, which are typical for the region. There are applied the acquired knowledge, and their applications for specifically affected selected administrative units (provinces) in the last part.
