Mental stress of general nurses

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit stupeň psychické zátěž všeobecných sester, které pracují na chirurgických pracovištích Fakultní nemocnice v Olomouci. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 276 všeobecných sester, které pracují na standardních lůžkových odděleních v chirurgických oborech a odděleních intenzivní péče. Výzkumné šetření probíhalo v červenci a srpnu 2013. Pro získání dat byl použit Meisterův dotazník doplněný o demografické údaje (věk, délka praxe a vzdělání) a otázky týkající se úmyslu odejít z pracoviště či ze zdravotnictví. Pro popis dat byla použita popisná statistika, k analýze dat byly použity statistické testy. Výsledky: Analýzou dat jsme dospěli k určení výsledného stupně psychické zátěže. Jak u sester z oddělení intenzivní péče tak u sester ze standardních lůžkových oddělení byla prokázána psychická zátěž 1. stupně, při které není pravděpodobné ovlivnění zdraví, subjektivního stavu a výkonnosti. Nebyla prokázána vzájemná souvislost mezi psychickou zátěží, věkem, vzděláním a délkou praxe. Z výsledků dále vyplývá, že sestry, které zvažují odchod ze zdravotnictví, subjektivně pociťují vyšší míru psychické zátěže. Závěr: Přestože výsledky výzkumného šetření u sester z oddělení intenzivní péče a oddělení standardní lůžkové péče neprokázaly druhý a ani třetí stupeň zátěže, je nutné stále se snažit o náležité materiální a technické zabezpečení pracovišť a přispívat k dobrým pracovním vztahům tak, aby míra stresu na pracovišti byla co možná nejnižší. Právě tak je důležité, aby i sestry aktivně pečovaly o své vlastní psychické a fyzické zdraví.

Abstract:

Aim: Objective of this study was to find out the degree of psychological stress of nurses working in surgery departments of the Faculty Hospital in Olomouc. Methods: The research group was consisted of 276 nurses working in standard wards and intensive care units in surgery. The research was in July and August 2013. For getting data was used Meister questionnaire completed about demographic informations (age, length of experience, and education) and questions regarding the intention to retire from the workplace or from healthcare. For data description were used descriptive statistics, for data analysis were used statistical tests. Results: Data analysis led to the identification of the resulting degree of psychological stress. Both nurses from the intensive care units and the nurses of the standard inpatient department was established psychological stress level 1, when is not probably affect health, subjective state and performance. It wasn?t correlation between psychological stress, age, education and length of practice. The results showed that nurses who are considering retirement from healthcare, subjectively perceive a higher level of psychological stress. Conclusion: Although the results of a research of nurses from intensive care unit and of standard inpatient department have not shown a second or third level of stress, it is still necessary to seek appropriate material and technical facilities of the departments and contribute to a good working relationship to be the level of stress in the workplace as low as possible. It is equally important that the nurses actively care for their own mental and physical health.
