Entrepreneurial Activity in the Czech Republic: Econometrical Analysis of Data from Global Entrepreneurship Monitor from Years 2011 and 2013

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje výzkumu rané podnikatelské aktivity v ČR. Zdrojem dat pro tuto práci jsou databáze poskytnuté organizací Global Entreprenurship Monitor z let 2011 a 2013. Za pomoci modelů s binární vysvětlovanou proměnnou (lineární pravděpodobnostní model, logit a probit) analyzuje hlavní faktory mající vliv na ranou fázi podnikání. Ukazuje se, že klíčovými faktory pro podnikatele jsou faktory psychologické povahy jako strach ze selhání nebo přesvědčení o vlastních schopnostech a zkušenostech. Dále se tato práce zabývá faktory ovlivňujícími, zda podnikatelé vytváří pro svoje podnikání business plan. Jsou zkoumány jak demografické a psychologické vlivy, tak vlivy charakterizující typ podnikání. To jsou například odvětví, ve kterém firma pracuje, nebo jestli firma přichází s novým typem výrobku.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is devoted to the research of early-stage entrepreneurial activity in the Czech Republic. The data source for this thesis are databases from years 2011 and 2013 provided by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor organisation. Using binary choice models (linear probability model, logit and probit) major factors that influence early-stage entrepreneurial activity are determined. It turns out that the key factors for entrepreneurs are the psychological factors such as fear of failure or confidence in their skills and experience. Furthermore this thesis examines factors that influence whether the entrepreneurs write down a business plan for their entrepreneurial activity. Demographical and psychological factors are examined, as well as factors characterizing the type of business (for example industry sector or whether the company will be launching a new product).
