Incorporating ESG in Bank Risk Management

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto bakalárskej práce je analyzovať pripravenosť Luxemburských úverových inštitúcií na očakávania Európskej centrálnej banky zverejnené v novej príručke ESG, ktorá sa týka environmentálnych a klimatických rizík. Prvá časť práce je zameraná na teoretické poznatky o ESG rizikách a rizikách z nich vyplývajúcich, ich hodnotenie a vysvetlenie súčasného obozretného rámca podnikania, súvisiaceho s riadením rizík inštitúcie a zverejňovaním informácií o klimatických a environmentálnych rizikách. Druhá časť práce je zameraná na zber údajov od vybraných finančných inštitúcií sídliacich v Luxembursku s cieľom posúdiť, či sú pripravené naplniť očakávania zo strany ECB.

Abstract:

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the preparedness of Luxembourgish credit institutions to expectations of the European Central Bank published in the new ESG guide that is related to envi-ronmental and climate-related risks. The first part of the thesis is focused on theoretical knowledge about ESG risks and risks stemming from them, their assessment, and expla-nation of the current prudential framework related to institution’s risk management and disclosures concerning climate-related and environ-mental risks. The second part of the thesis is focused on data collecting from selected financial institutions settled in Luxembourg to assess whether they are ready to meet the expectations from ECB.
