Nature in modern norwegian literature (between 1917 and 1963)

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje analýze přírody v norské moderní literatuře, zejména v letech 1917 – 1963. Soustředí se na vnímání přírody ve specifickém geografickém, kulturním a historickém kontextu a na antagonický vztah člověka a přírody v dílech zachycených. Tento antagonický vztah, který je překážkou pro cílenou syntézu světa přírody a kultury analyzuje a nachází různé stupně jeho vyjádření. Práce ukazuje, že tento vztah má několik odlišných rovin a s přihlédnutím k environmentálnímu myšlení a etice, vyjádřených odkazem na relevantní autory, tato díla hodnotí a rozhoduje o potenciální přijatelnosti či nepřijatelnosti těchto literárních děl jako možného nástroje k osvojení či upevnění environmentálního způsobu myšlení a hodnot, které k těmto způsobům vedou. Literaturu – romány, novely a povídky – považuje za důležitou součást euro-americké kultury a snaží se jim přiřadit rovnocenný význam ve vztahu k literatuře sociálních věd. I přes vysokou uměleckou kvalitu některých analyzovaných děl odmítá jejich poselství, pokud se neshoduje s požadavky environmentální etiky.

Abstract:

This study deals with analysis of Norwegian nature in modern literature, especially between the years 1917 to 1963. It focuses on the perception of nature in a specific geographical, cultural and historical context. It also focuses on the antagonism of the relationship between humans and nature in the works captured. This antagonism of relationship is a barrier for a proper synthesis of the nature and culture, and analyzes are different levels of expression. It shows that this relationship has several different levels with regard to environmental thought and ethics, expressed in reference to the relevant authors. This works evaluates and decides on the acceptability or unacceptability of the potential of these literary works as a potential tool to acquire or strengthen the environmental way of thinking and values that lead to these methods. Literature - novels, novellas and short stories -considered as an important part of Euro-American culture and try to assign equal importance in relation to the literature of social sciences. Despite the high artistic quality of some of the analyzed works rejects their message if they does not match with the requirements of environmental ethics.
