Changes in the quality of public space in the environment of Czech towns and cities

Abstract:

Tato práce řeší problematiku veřejného prostoru v České republice. Cílem je vyhodnotit změnu kvality s ohledem na jeho bezpečnost. K tomuto účelu je vybráno pět vzorových veřejných prostorů, které prošly v posledních letech úpravami. Výsledku je dosaženo pomocí porovnání zvolených indikátorů (nehodovost, kriminalita, funkce, přehlednost, dispoziční uspořádání) před a po úpravách prostoru. Výstupem práce je zjištění, ve kterých ohledech se bezpečnost zvýšila a ve kterých nikoliv.

Abstract:

The work deals with the problems of public space in the Czech Republic. The aim is to assess the change in quality with regard to its safety. For this purpose, five sample public spaces were chosen that have been adjusted over recent years. The result was achieved by comparing the chosen indicators (accident rate, crime rate, function, clear arrangement and layout) before and after the adjustments of the spaces. The outcome of the work is finding out in which aspects safety has increased an in which it has not.
