Analysis of Malware for Linux Devices

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on malicious software - malware, which is used to attack devices with low computing power and the Linux operating system. The work deals with abuse of this software for creating extensive networks controlled by servers. It describes virtualization to create an abstract, isolated environment. It explains its configuration and preparation for the purposes of testing the freely available malware's source codes. It also deals with selected malware samples and a description of their characteristics, which is the main contribution of this thesis.

Abstract:

Táto práca sa zameriava na škodlivý softvér - malware, ktorý napáda zariadenia s malým výpočtovým výkonom a operačným systémom Linux. Zaoberá sa zneužívaním tohto softvéru, na vytváranie rozsiahlych sietí, ovládaných kontrolnými servermi. Popisuje virtualizáciu na vytvorenie abstraktného izolovaného prostredia. Vysvetľuje jeho konfiguráciu a prípravu, pre účely testovania voľne dostupných zdrojových kódov malwaru. Ďalej sa zaoberá vybranými vzorkami malwaru a popisom ich vlastností, čo je hlavný prínos tejto práce.
