Hlístice patří mezi jedny z nejpočetnějších a nejrozšířenějších mnohobuněčných organismů na světě. Řada z nich žije parazitickým způsobem života, napadají významné zemědělské plodiny, hospodářská zvířata a také člověka. Představují tedy závažný problém, jak v zemědělství, tak i v medicíně. Nematodes are one the most abundant multicellular organisms in the world. Many of them are parasites, which infect important agricultural crops, livestock as well as humans.
