Preference of pregnant women to the obstetrician (doctor vs. midwife) - comparison of wishes of primiparous and multiparous

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na preference rodiček k osobě porodníka. Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda ženy chtějí rodit pouze s porodní asistentkou anebo s porodní asistentkou i lékařem a porovnat přání mezi prvorodičkami a vícerodičkami. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na historii porodnictví, historii porodnictví v Čechách, významné porodní báby v historii, porod, péči porodní asistentky o ženu během porodu a vzdělání porodních asistentek a lékařů porodníků. Druhá část, praktická, má za cíl zjistit koho rodičky preferují, jaké k tomu mají důvody a zda je rozdíl mezi prvorodičkami a vícerodičkami. Také jaké mají rodičky povědomí o profesi porodních asistentek. Ke sběru dat bylo použito dotazníkové šetření. Dotazníkového šetření se zúčastnily těhotné ženy bez omezení věku a vzdělání, z celkového počtu 100 respondentek bylo 45 prvorodiček a 55 vícerodiček. Výsledky dotazníků ukázaly, že nejvíce žen volí porod s porodní asistentkou i lékařem, a pro porod pouze s porodní asistentkou se rozhodují spíše vícerodičky, oproti prvorodičkám, které chtějí u svého porodu i lékaře. V závěru práce jsou potvrzeny hypotézy, které byly stanoveny. Také doporučení pro využití práce porodními asistentkami a lékaři v oboru.

Abstract:

The Bachelor's thesis is focused on the preferences of expectant mothers regarding the obstetrician. The main goal of the thesis was to find out whether women want to give birth only with the assistance of a midwife or with a midwife and a doctor and to compare the wishes of primiparas and multiparas. The theoretical part focuses on the history of obstetrics, the history of obstetrics in the Czech Republic, important midwives in history, childbirth, the care of a midwife for a woman during childbirth and the education of midwives and obstetricians. The second, practical, part aims to find out whom expectant mothers prefer, what their reasons are and whether the preferences of primiparas and multiparas differ. It also deals with what awareness expectant mothers have of the profession of midwives. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data. The total number of 100 pregnant women, regardless of their age and education, participated in the questionnaire survey, with 45 of them being primiparas and 55 multiparas. The results of the questionnaires showed that most women choose to give birth with the assistance a midwife and a doctor, and multiparas are more likely to decide to give birth only with the assistance of a midwife, as opposed to primiparas, who want a doctor at their delivery. The hypotheses that were set are confirmed in the conclusion of the paper. Recommendations for the use of the thesis by midwives and doctors in the field are also presented there.
