Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on foreign trade of the Czech Republic in the context of EU membership

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá dopady pandemie COVID-19 na zahraniční obchod ČR v kontextu členství v EU. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, jak se projevila pandemie COVID-19 na vývoj zahraničního obchodu ČR v období let 2020 a 2021 a jakým způsobem tyto projevy ovlivnilo členství ČR v EU. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. V první kapitole jsou představeny dlouhodobé dopady členství v EU na zahraniční obchod ČR v podobě přijetí společné obchodní politiky EU a jednotného vnitřního trhu. Druhá kapitola se zabývá dlouhodobým vývojem obchodní bilance, teritoriální a komoditní struktury zahraničního obchodu ČR před nástupem pandemie COVID-19. Poslední kapitola je v první části zaměřena na identifikování dopadů pandemie na vývoj zahraničního obchodu ČR a následně analyzuje opatření přijaté EU za účelem zmírnění negativních ekonomických dopadů pandemie COVID-19.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on foreign trade of the Czech Republic in the context of EU membership. The main objective of the thesis is to find out how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the development of foreign trade of the Czech Republic in 2020 and 2021 and how the Czech Republic's membership in the EU contributed to mitigating the impacts of the pandemic. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter presents the long-term effects of EU membership on foreign trade of the Czech Republic in the form of adoption of the common EU trade policy and the single internal market. The second chapter deals with the long-term development of the trade balance of the Czech Republic, and with the territorial and commodity structure of foreign trade of the Czech Republic before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The last chapter focuses on the identification of the effects of the pandemic on the development of foreign trade of the Czech Republic and subsequently analyses the measures taken by the EU to mitigate the negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
