Aspects forming discourse of Japanese fine art in 1990s interpreted through Superflat art

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na japonské výtvarné umění a diskurs o něm, který začal získávat jasnou podobu v průběhu 90. let 20. století. Na docela novém filosoficko-uměleckém směru zvaném Superflat (art), který vytvořil Takashi Murakami na přelomu tisíciletí, je demonstrován přístup k umění jak z hlediska globálního, tak z hlediska lokálního, které mu stojí v opozici. Teorie Superflat je v této práci uplatněna jako nástroj, umožňující interpretaci kulturních, historických a politických proměn a tendencí, které dopomohly ke vzniku nové výtvarné umělecké scény v Japonsku.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on Japanese fine art and its discourse, which took firmer shape during 1990s. On a new philosophical and artistic style Superflat, which created Tkashi Murakami at the turn of the millennium, is demonstrated an approach to the art in terms of both global and local, which stand in opposition to each other. Superflat theory is applied in the work as a tool enabling the interpretation of cultural, historical and political changes and trends that helped to establish a new art scene in Japan.
