"Forming and Fineblanking": Translation and Analysis with Special Regard to Translating Technical Texts

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci jsem se zaměřila na technický překlad druhé poloviny manuálu příručky od firmy FEINTOOL s názvem "Forming and Fineblanking". Cílem této práce bylo dokončit překlad knihy tak, aby mohla být použita nejen jako součást diplomové práce, ale také jako praktická pomůcka ve výrobních společnostech zabývajících se zpracováním kovů s využitím procesu přesného stříhání. Technologie přesného střihu od společnosti FEINTOOL je na čes-kém i mezinárodním průmyslovém trhu naprosto unikátní. V práci uvádím specifika technického překladu a shrnutí základní poznatků. Celá práce je rozdělena na dvě části, praktickou a analytickou. Praktická část obsahuje překlad druhé části příručky (její první část jsem přeložila již ve své bakalářské práci, kterou jsem vypracovala na Univerzitě Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně, fakultě humanitních studií v roce 2008). Analytická část věnuje pozornost obecné teorii překladu, infor-macím o daném žánru, analýze překladu s komentářem k odborné specifikaci textu a statistickou analýzu jevů. Zdrojový anglický text příručky je vložen v úvodu této práce a v jejím závěru je slovník pojmů použitých v příručce.

Abstract:

In this diploma thesis I focused on the technical translation of the sec-ond half of the handbook manual by company FEINTOOL called "Forming and Fineblanking". The aim of this work was to complete the translation of the book so that it could be used not only as a part of the thesis, but also as an important part of the practice in production com-panies working in metal pro-cessing using a precise cutting process. The unique fineblanking technology by company FEINTOOL is absolutely unequalled on both, Czech and international industrial mar-ket. As a logical addition, I present the specifics of the technical transla-tion and a summary of the basic observations. The whole work is divided into two parts, practical and analyti-cal. The practical part aims to a translation of the second part of the handbook (I translated its first part in my bachelor thesis which I did at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Faculty of Humanities, 2008). The ana-lytical part pays attention to a general theory of translation, infor-mation about the given genre, analysis of the translation with com-ments about technical text specification and a statistical analysis of grammatical phenomena. The original English text of the fineblanking handbook is included at the beginning of the thesis. Phrase glossary closes the entire work.
