Abstract:
This thesis examines forms of oppression and empowerment of the female characters in the Brontë sisters´ Gothic novels. The novels examined are Charlotte Brontë´s Jane Eyre, Emily Brontë´s Wuthering Heights and Anne Brontë´s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
