Art of the Czech avant-garde a current collecting

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je nastínit problematiku současného sběratelství v České republice. Nemohu pochopitelně uchopit celou škálu současného sběratelství, proto se vymezuji pouze na plochu české avantgardy první poloviny 20. století. V současné době můžeme tuto uměleckou epochu mezi sběrateli umění považovat za jednu z nejžádanějších. Se sběratelstvím se úzce pojí i další aspekty. V prvé řadě je to trh s uměním, dále politická a ekonomická situace, kriminální činnost v podobě krádeží děl či falsa na trhu s uměním. Restituce 90. let zasadila muzeím ránu. Muzea během několika let přišla o svá nejcennější díla, na kterých měla vybudované své sbírkové fondy. Na trh s uměním se dostalo množství uměleckých děl restituovaných ze státních muzeí a galerií. Nastalá situace přispěla k oživení soukromého sběratelství české avantgardy. V práci je kladen důraz na osudy sbírky Jindřicha Waldese a malířské dílo Františka Kupky. Právě práce tohoto českého malíře se mezi sběrateli těší čím dál, tím větší oblibě a to nejen mezi českými, ale i světovými sběrateli umění.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to outline the issue of current art collecting in the Czech Republic. Naturally, I can not grasp the whole spectrum of current art collecting, therefore I focused my work only on the Czech avant-garde of the first half of the 20th century. This art period is at the moment considred as one of the most desirable, among art collectors. There are further aspects closely associated with art collecting. Firstly, it is the art market, further it is the political and economical situation, criminal aktivity committed through art work thefts or forgeries present at the art market. The restitution of the nineties inflicted a blow to the museums. During several years museums lost thein most valuable art pieces, on which basis their art collections were built. There was a plenty of art works, that was returned from the state owned museums and galleries to private owners. The new situation contributed to the revival of private art collecting of the Czech avant-garde. This document is focused on the heritage of Jiří Waldes collection and the painting work of František Kupka. As such, the art production of this Czech painter is in increasing great favour not only among Czech, but also among art collectors from around the world.
