European cleavage in the Central Europe

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se snaží vyzkoumat, zda ve středoevropském prostoru existuje evropská konfliktní linie. Opírá se přitom o známý koncept cleavages, jak jej zpracoval Stein Rokkan s Martinem Lipsetem a navazující modifikace tohoto konceptu (politické konfliktní linie). Práce je komparací stranickopolitických systému v České republice, na Slovensku, v Polsku a Maďarsku v letech 1998-2004. Cílem je zjistit, zda v těchto zemích existuje nějaké politické štěpení na základě evropského tématu, jímž máme na mysli všechny otázky a problémy spjaté s Evropskou unií. Sleduje, zda toto téma působí na podobu stranického systému a na voličské chování. Metodologie práce je založena na analýze stranického systému ve sledovaném období, analýze referenda o vstupu do EU a voleb do Evropského parlamentu v roce 2004 ve všech sledovaných zemích.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis tries to find an european cleavage in the Central European area. It uses the well-known theory of political science theory of cleavages of Stein Rokkan and Martin Lipset and its modifications (political cleavages). This paper is a comparison of political party systems in the Czech republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary in years 1998-2004. The aim of this diploma thesis is to find out, if there is some cleavage in the Central European party systems based on the European theme, which means all problems and questions connected with the European Union. The author tries to check if this theme affects the party systems and the elector behavior. The methodology is based on analysis of the party system in monitored period, of the referendum about the entry to EU and of the elections to European Parliament in 2004 in all watched countries.
