The history of the hereditary post office in Svitavy in the context of the development of the post administration in the Czech lands in the 18th and the19th century

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá historií dědičné pošty ve Svitavách v kontextu vývoje českého poštovnictví 18. a 19. století. Časově je práce vymezená působením dědičných poštmistrů z rodu Wernerů na svitavské poště koncem 18. století a začátkem 20. století. Práce je rozdělena na tři části. V prvním oddíle se zaobírám vývoje poštovnictví v českých zemích v 18. a 19. století. Druhá část je věnována vývoji města Svitavy ve stejném období. Třetí část je vlastním výzkumem práce a věnuje se historii dědičné pošty ve Svitavách z pohledu poštmistrovské rodiny Wernerů, která na poště působila jedno století. V příloze se mimo jiné věnuji rozboru dědičného poštovního privilegia. Výzkum práce je postaven na rodinném archivu rodu Wernerů uloţeném v SOkA Svitavy se sídlem v Litomyšli a na Sbírce Václava Dragouna uloţené v Poštovním muzeu v Praze.

Abstract:

The thesis observes history of the hereditary post office of Svitavy in the context of Czech postal service development in the 18th and 19th century. Work frame is defined by the presence of hereditary postmasters of the Werner family which managed the post office of Svitavy since 18th century till early 20th century. The thesis has been divided into three parts. In the first one I treat the development of postal service in the Czech lands in the 18th and 19th century. The second part pursues the development of Svitavy town in the same period. The third part is my own research work focused to the history of hereditary post station in Svitavy from the perspective of the Werner family, who had been living and working there for over one hundred years.In the Annex I also deal with analysis of hereditary postal privileges. The research is based on family archives of Werner family (located in State distinct Archive in Svitavy) and a Collection of Václav Dragoun stored at the Postal Museum in Prague.
