Abstract:
This master's thesis deals with personal identity and rootlessness in the essayistic work of two contemporary authors close in generation and theme, Sigitas Parulskis (*1965) and Jáchym Topol (*1962). The theoretical part defines the basic terms (essay, personal essay, identity, rootlessness) based on Lithuanian- and Czech-language sources, which are then used in the analysis of the texts.
